Fire Marshal Position
On April 1, 2008 the HSVFC was dispatched to a house fire on Pheasant Ln. Upon arrival of Captain Brown he reported a single family dwelling that was heavily involved in fire. Upon the arrival of E-711, a gate had to be cut to gain access to the residence. Two 1 3/4 hand lines were advanced but fire had spread to far to make successful interior attack. Chief Smith established command and a nursing operation was put into place. Power lines hindered hose placement but crews were able to bring the fire under control in about 30 min. The residence was not occupied.
On March 28, 2008 the HSVFC was dispatched to a working fire with entrapment on Glenwood Rd. Chief Smith arrived and reported a single family dwelling with heavy black smoke showing. Engine 711 arrived and laied LDH from the hydrant on the way in to the scene. Two 1 3/4" hand lines were advanced into the residence but fire had already spread to the attic. A search was initiated but nothing was found. Fire was brought under control but residence received major damage.
